Snapped some photos of some cool games and toys a our local Five and Dime
store. I love this stuff. The toys are sweet in themselves. But the packaging is
awesome. The colors selections are very appealing to the eyes and the artistic
graghics give the feeling of a simplier time. Anyway it's nice to see these things
are still available for kids (and some of us adults ) to play with.
The original Dottie decal is in the upper
left. But I do like the orange Dottie and of
some reason I like the green Dottie. Maybe
I'll put a small Dottie logo on collared shirts
like the alligator on Lacoste
shirts.........hmmm

While working on the Dottie design I decided to paint the designs on a piece of
plywood that I had laying around. The plan was to hand paint a bunch of these
and hang them on trees or poles for a little gorilla marketing. I also did a bigger
Dottie sign, about three foot by four foot -like the large view of the "swim moon
lake" tee shirt- and I laid it in the back of my pick up so it would weather and
age from the rain and sun. So I was at an off shore boat race and was walking
back to my truck an noticed a 20 something guy and his girlfriend looking in my
truck bed ..with a kind of "look around we're going to steal this" look in their
eyes. Well I started to walk a little faster and got close enough to say to the guy
"hey how's it going " as I made it obvious that this was my truck. He smiled and
walked away. His girlfriend was cute and brunette so maybe she thought she
was Dottie the Moon Lake Pinup and the boyfriend was going to steal it to
prove his love, like young lovers do. I guess it was kind of a complement. He
probably stole one of the signs from my gorilla marketing campaign.
More painted wood signs,
sorry about the bad camera
phone pictures. The bear
painting came out ok , but
when I did it again with pen and
ink, more detail came out than
I can do with a brush and
$2.99 hardware paint. A future
tee shirt design for sure.
Another wood sign, this one is of a water tower. I didn't think a water
tower was a good tee shirt material, but it did inspire a better idea of a
whole stretch of town with the water tower in the background.
